THE ELECfROCHEMISTRY OF PROTEINS AND RELATED SUBSTANCES PART III. BOVINE SERUM ALBUMIN

چکیده

The electroreduction of bovine serum albumin (BSA) in pH 7.4 solution was studied at the hanging mercury drop electrode by double potential step chronocoulometry and cyclic voltammetry. and at a mercury pool electrode by controlled potential coulometry. The proposed mechanism involves reduction of an adsorbed monolayer of BSA (maximum coverage 3.3 1lC-2); at short times 3 or 4 disulfide bonds are reduced, the product remains adsorbed and may be reoxidized. On the coulometric time scale (hours) 8 or 9 of the total 17 disulfide bonds are broken and an insoluble product which cannot be oxidized is formed.

III. COUPLING OF ACETYLATED BOVIXE SERUM ALBUMIN WITH ARSANILIC ACID AND p-AMINOBENZOIC ACID*

In the first report (1) of this series, we described a spectroscopic method for the determination and differentiation of the azo dyes resulting from coupling of arsanilic acid and related compounds with tyrosine and histidine. The bisazo compound of tyrosine and the bisazoamino compound of lysine were also characterized. In the second paper (2) we showed that the spectroscopic method can be app...

Novel Ion Selective Electrodes for Determination of Lisinopril: A Study of Plasma and Plasma Proteins Effect

Three lisinopril-selective electrodes were developed with different techniques and in different polymeric matrices. Precipitation based technique with bathophenanthroline-ferrous as cationic exchanger in polyvinyl chloride (PVC) was used for the fabrication of sensor I (classical electrode) and sensor II (coated wire electrode). Hydroxypropyl ß cyclodextrin-based techniques were used for the fa...

The role of ascorbic acid in senile cataract.

The reductone ascorbic acid, present in the crystalline lens in concentrations higher than those of glucose, is capable of undergoing nonenzymatic "browning" in the presence of lenticular proteins. We studied the nonenzymatic browning with ascorbate in model systems employing bovine serum albumin and lens crystallins. When bovine serum albumin, alpha-crystallin, or gamma-crystallin was incubate...

بررسی تاثیر آسکوربیک اسید بر واکنش گلیکاسیون آلبومین در شرایط برون‌تنی

Background & Aims: Advanced glycation end products (AGEs) formation is increased in diabetes mellitus, leading to microvascular and macrovascular complications. Recently, much attention has been focused on natural and synthetic inhibitors to delay the onset or progression of diabetes and its comorbidities. In this study, an in vitro glycation model containing albumin as a model protein together...

Effect of sodium salicylate and sodium deoxycholate on fibrillation of bovine serum albumin: comparison of fluorescence, SANS and DLS techniques.

The impact of biocompatible additives on the fibrillation and defibrillation of proteins provides valuable insight into the development of suitable formulations for the treatment of protein-related diseases or the storage of proteins in the laboratory. We have studied the effects of the addition of sodium deoxycholate (NaDC) and sodium salicylate (NaSal) on the fibrillation of bovine serum albu...
